Pages 206-209: The story of how the YMCA Camp Kern team from 2002-2005 changed the retention rate of campers from 29% to 71% in 2005 and retention rate of groups from 34% to 93%. Currently, the same team has increased those rates in 2006 to 77% for campers and 94% for groups. High levels of guest and staff satisfaction ratings were achieved after instituting a new Kids and guests first philosophy in 2002 the camp has seen many success including fund-raising, program growth, Staff retention, and huge customer satisfaction ratings. YMCA Camp Kern is approaching a landmark in camping. 100 years of camping in June of 2010. In preparation for the 100th Camp Kern will be launching a Centennial capital campaign designed to ensure the camps growth and stability for another 100 years.
YMCA Camp Kern, a branch of the Greater Dayton YMCA, currently sees over 30,000 guests a year and has an operation budget of 2.6 Million dollars. 50 percent of its camper and clients coming from Dayton and 50 percent come from Cincinnati. YMCA Camp Kern offers year round and summer programming. Offering programming in: Outdoor Education, Conference and retreats, Equestrian programming, summer camp and corporate team building. It has been in operation for 96 years and plans on further enhancements before its 100th anniversary.
