Equine Assisted Learning
(Group size – Up to 10 participants; Ages 10+)
YMCA Camp Kern is now offering a new way to experience team building... with horses! Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a different approach to facilitating teambuilding, leadership development, and personal growth. Participants engage in a variety of unmounted activities that focus on achieving a goal with a selection of equine companions. Groups use behavior to manipulate horses through a set obstacle, allowing them the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their own communication style and team dynamic.
Our EAL programs can be tailored to the needs of your group and we offer specific programs for:
- School and Youth Groups
- Leadership Organizations
- Corporate Teambuilding
- Veterans
- Families
EAL is a grounded activity that does not require any riding or horse experience.
Why Horses
Horses allow participants the chance to work with an obstacle that responds to them. Horses are acutely aware of human behavior and body language, and will react according to how they feel about a person or group’s displayed emotions. By understanding a horse’s instinctual reaction to their behavior, EAL participants will become more aware of their interactions with others.
